What can Habits remind you about?
The current verified Habits reminder system includes:
- Medication reminders at the times configured for each medication;
- Water reminders every 1, 2, 3 or 4 hours;
- configurable water-reminder active hours;
- a midday water-goal progress check using a threshold you choose against the goal configured in Habits;
- Exercise reminders on selected days at a time you set;
- Programme Workout reminders on scheduled workout days when you are enrolled in a programme.
The reminders are scheduled locally on your device and can work without an internet connection once set up.
A reminder is a prompt. It does not confirm that a medication was taken or that a health goal was medically appropriate.
Configured reminders do not rely on a server push at the moment they are due.
Habits uses local device notifications for its current reminder system.
Once configured, a reminder can work without an internet connection, and the app does not need to be open at the moment a local notification appears.
Notification permission and iOS settings still control whether and how a notification is shown.
Like other iPhone notifications, delivery is not guaranteed by the operating system.
Set reminder times for each medication.
When you configure a medication in Habits, reminder times can be part of that setup.
For each medication:
- reminders can be enabled or disabled;
- notifications are scheduled for the reminder times you configured.
Tap a Medication notification to open the Medication area in Habits.
The Medication area also keeps the next scheduled dose visible.
Habits includes a real-time Next Dose Countdown in Medication tracking.
That countdown is separate from the notification system: it gives you another way to see the next scheduled dose when you open Habits.
The notification prompts you. The dose log records what you entered.
Habits also has a separate “I took my dose” action that records a timestamp.
A scheduled medication reminder is not the same as a completed dose record.
This website does not claim that Habits automatically knows a dose was taken, missed or medically delayed based on the notification alone.
Choose how often you want a water prompt.
Habits supports recurring water reminders at:
- every 1 hour;
- every 2 hours;
- every 3 hours;
- every 4 hours.
You can also set the active hours when those reminders are allowed to run.
That lets you keep recurring reminders inside the part of the day you choose.
Add one goal-based nudge if you want it.
Habits can send a midday progress check when the app's recorded progress toward your configured daily water goal is below the threshold you selected.
Available threshold settings are:
- 25%
- 50%
- 75%
These are reminder settings—not medical hydration thresholds.
Habits does not calculate how much fluid you medically need or diagnose dehydration.
Choose a time and the days you want the prompt.
Habits supports a general Exercise reminder with:
- a time you set;
- day-of-week selection.
Use it when a simple scheduled prompt is useful for your own movement routine.
The reminder does not determine how much exercise is medically appropriate for you.
Match reminders to scheduled workout days.
If you are enrolled in a structured Habits workout programme, the app can send a reminder on programme workout days at the time you configured.
Programme rest days are part of the programme schedule; this website does not claim workout reminders are sent on rest days.
Use reminders as prompts, not as a scorecard.
Habits offers several reminder types, but this page does not recommend turning every reminder on.
The useful setting is the one that fits your routine without becoming noise.
A dismissed or missed notification is not treated here as a health failure.
Medication and Hydration reminders are included in Free.
The current Habits plan reference explicitly includes:
- Medication tracking + reminders in Free and Pro;
- Hydration tracking + reminders in Free and Pro.
Exercise and Programme Workout reminders are implemented features, but the current plan table does not separately list their plan entitlement.
This website therefore does not make a separate Free/Pro promise for those reminder settings until the production purchase configuration has been checked.
The current reminder system uses configured rules, not an AI health decision.
Medication reminders use the times you configured.
Water reminders use the interval and active hours you selected.
The water-goal check uses your configured tracking goal and threshold.
Exercise reminders use the days and time you set.
Programme reminders follow scheduled workout days.
Habits AI is a separate optional part of the app.
Remember that notifications can appear outside the app.
A phone's notification settings can allow notification previews to appear on the lock screen or in notification history.
If you prefer less information to be visible outside Habits, review the notification-preview settings available on your device.
Habits also includes Face ID or Touch ID app locking on supported devices.
That app lock does not control what iOS displays in a notification preview outside the app.
If a reminder is not appearing, device settings can matter.
Local reminders depend on notification permission and the operating system being allowed to display them.
If notification permission is denied at the device level, iOS does not deliver Habits notifications.
You can change notification permissions later in iPhone Settings.
A reminder is not medical monitoring.
Habits reminders do not:
- confirm that you took a dose;
- diagnose a missed dose;
- tell you what to do after a missed or late dose;
- change your medication dose;
- determine whether a symptom is urgent;
- detect dehydration;
- determine how much fluid you medically need;
- prescribe exercise;
- notify a clinician or caregiver;
- provide emergency monitoring.
For medication instructions or medical decisions, follow the information supplied with your medication and appropriate professional guidance.

No. They are app reminder settings, not medical hydration targets.
