How Google Calendar connection works in Habits

By Habits

Google Calendar is an optional Pro connection in Habits.

The current integration is read-only: Habits can use permitted Calendar information to show upcoming events, and Calendar context can support the AI Daily Plan where that feature is available.

Habits does not currently claim to create, edit or delete events in your Google Calendar.

The short version

The current Google Calendar integration works like this:

  1. You choose to connect Google Calendar.
  2. Google asks you to authorise the requested Calendar access.
  3. Habits can show upcoming Calendar information from the next 7 days.
  4. Where AI Daily Plan is available, Calendar commitments can be used as planning context.
  5. You can disconnect the Calendar connection.

The integration is documented as read-only.

That means this Product Guide does not claim Habits can:

  • create events;
  • change event times;
  • delete events;
  • invite attendees;
  • respond to invitations.

Signing in with Google does not automatically connect your Calendar

Habits supports Google as one way to sign in to an account.

Google Calendar is a separate optional Pro connection.

Using Sign in with Google should not be interpreted as granting Habits permission to read Google Calendar.

Calendar access should begin only when you deliberately choose the Calendar connection and approve the requested Google permission.

You do not need to connect Calendar to use the Habits trackers

Google Calendar is an optional Pro integration.

You can still use the core Habits tracking areas without connecting a Google Calendar.

The Calendar connection is intended to add schedule context rather than become a requirement for:

  • Medication tracking;
  • Hydration;
  • Food logging;
  • Exercise tracking;
  • Mood;
  • Sleep;
  • Weight.

Habits is not documented to change your Calendar

The current product uses read-only Google Calendar access.

This Product Guide does not claim Habits can:

  • add a new appointment;
  • move a meeting;
  • change an event title;
  • delete an event;
  • invite someone;
  • accept or decline a meeting.

The purpose of the current connection is to read schedule context, not manage your Google Calendar.

The current product reference uses the next 7 days

The documented Calendar view shows upcoming events across the next 7 days.

That gives Habits short-term schedule context rather than presenting itself as a full Calendar replacement.

You decide whether to authorise the Calendar connection

When you connect Google Calendar, Google presents the OAuth authorisation experience.

That screen describes the Calendar access Habits is requesting.

If you do not want to provide that access, you do not need to connect Calendar.

Habits can show upcoming Calendar events

The current integration documents a view of upcoming Calendar events across the next 7 days.

This can help keep schedule context visible while using Habits.

Important

The exact event details displayed should match the current app.

This guide does not currently promise:

  • every Google Calendar;
  • every event;
  • private-event details;
  • attendee lists;
  • descriptions;
  • meeting links.

Calendar can add schedule context to Daily Plan — when Daily Plan is available

Habits' product reference says the AI Daily Plan can use Calendar commitments when generating a schedule.

That can help the plan account for time already occupied by Calendar events.

Daily Plan has a separate availability gate

The current product reference also says Daily Plan is:

  • Pro;
  • controlled by the daily_plans rollout flag.

So this page does not promise that every Pro user currently receives Calendar-aware Daily Plan.

What Calendar context should mean

Schedule context should help Habits understand:

when time is occupied.

It should not mean an AI model needs every detail of every event by default.

You can remove the Calendar connection

The current product includes a Disconnect control.

The source says disconnecting:

  • removes the Calendar connection;
  • revokes the OAuth token.

After disconnecting, Habits should no longer be able to fetch new Calendar information through that authorisation.

Disconnect is not the same as deleting Google Calendar events

Habits' Calendar integration is read-only.

Disconnecting Habits does not delete:

  • your Google Calendar;
  • your Google Account;
  • the events stored in Google Calendar.

Google gives you another way to revoke access

In addition to Habits' in-app Disconnect control, Google lets you review and remove third-party app access from your Google Account's linked-apps controls.

Removing access at Google stops the linked app from accessing new Google Account data through that authorisation.

It does not automatically prove that information previously copied into Habits has been deleted from Habits' systems.

For Habits-side deletion, use the applicable Habits data/account controls and Privacy Policy process.

Account deletion is separate from Google Calendar itself

Deleting your Habits account should remove the Habits-side Calendar connection according to the verified deletion flow.

It does not delete the original events from your Google Calendar.

The final Habits Privacy Policy should explain how:

  • OAuth tokens;
  • cached Calendar data;
  • Daily Plan outputs;

are handled when the Habits account is deleted.

Calendar events can contain sensitive information

A Calendar can include:

  • medical appointments;
  • counselling sessions;
  • work meetings;
  • religious events;
  • family commitments;
  • private locations.

That is why Habits should use the minimum Calendar information needed for the feature you chose.

Before connecting Calendar, review Google's authorisation screen and the Habits Privacy Policy so you understand the current data use.

Google Calendar is currently a Pro feature

The current Habits plan matrix includes Google Calendar integration in Pro, not Free.

The Calendar connection itself is optional.

Daily Plan distinction

Google Calendar and AI Daily Plan are related but not identical entitlements:

  • Calendar is documented as Pro;
  • Daily Plan is Pro and currently rollout-controlled.

Do not assume purchasing Pro automatically guarantees every rollout-controlled AI feature until the current entitlement/flag behaviour has been verified.

Google Calendar questions

Is Google Calendar required to use Habits?

No.

It is an optional Pro integration.

Does using Sign in with Google automatically give Habits Calendar access?

No such automatic Calendar permission should be assumed.

Google Calendar is a separate connection that requires its own Google authorisation.

Can a work or school Google account block the connection?

Yes, that can happen.

Google Workspace administrators can restrict third-party app access to Workspace data, so some managed accounts may be unable to authorise Habits Calendar access.

Can Habits create or change my Google Calendar events?

The current integration is documented as read-only.

This guide does not claim event creation, editing or deletion.

How much of my Calendar does Habits show?

The current product reference documents upcoming events from the next 7 days.

Does Habits use the whole Calendar?

The current OAuth source is documented as calendar.readonly, but Google provides narrower scopes and Habits should request only the access required for its actual features.

The final running-build OAuth screen is the authoritative current permission request.

Can Habits see event titles and descriptions?

This guide does not make a definitive field-level claim until the current Calendar API implementation is audited.

Calendar events can contain sensitive detail, so Habits should minimise the fields it uses.

Does Calendar help the AI Daily Plan?

The product reference says Calendar commitments can be used as context for AI Daily Plan when that feature is available.

Is Daily Plan available to every Pro user?

The current product reference says Daily Plan is rollout-controlled.

Availability should be confirmed in the current production release before it is marketed as guaranteed.

Does my Calendar data go to OpenAI?

This guide does not publish a definitive answer until the current Calendar→Daily Plan data flow has been audited.

If Calendar-derived data is transferred to a third-party AI provider, that transfer must be disclosed and handled consistently with Google's Limited Use requirements and the Habits Privacy Policy.

Can I disconnect Google Calendar?

Yes.

The current product includes Disconnect and documents OAuth-token revocation.

You can also remove an app's access from the linked-apps controls in your Google Account.

What happens if my Pro subscription ends?

The current product reference does not document the final Calendar-token/cache lifecycle after Pro entitlement ends.

Habits should stop Calendar access when the Pro feature is no longer available; the exact current production behaviour must be verified before this guide publishes a stronger promise.

Does disconnecting delete my Google Calendar events?

No.

The integration is read-only and disconnecting Habits does not delete events from Google Calendar.

Is Google Calendar available in Free?

No.

The current plan matrix documents it as Pro.

Connect your Calendar only if the schedule context is useful to you.

The current Habits Google Calendar integration is read-only and optional.

Small print:
Google Calendar is currently a Pro integration. AI Daily Plan availability can depend on rollout. Google Calendar is a trademark of Google LLC; no Google endorsement is implied.
