How the AI Meal Plan works in Habits

By Habits

Habits includes a 7-day AI Meal Plan for Pro users.

The current product reference says the plan can use:

  • dietary restrictions;
  • allergy preferences;
  • favourite ingredients;
  • disliked foods;
  • nutrition tracking gaps.

The plan is AI-generated. Review it before using it, especially if ingredient safety matters to you.

The short version

The current AI Meal Plan workflow is documented to:

  1. use your saved nutrition preferences;
  2. consider restrictions, allergies, favourite ingredients and disliked foods;
  3. show a Protein/energy gap analysis before generation;
  4. generate a 7-day meal plan.

The Meal Plan is a Pro AI feature.

It should be treated as:

a planning aid

not:

a medical diet prescription or guaranteed allergy-safe menu.

AI Meal Plan is part of Food & Nutrition

The current Food & Nutrition area has four documented modes:

  • Manual Food logging;
  • Saved Meals;
  • AI Food Analysis;
  • AI Meal Plan / Menu Generator.

The AI Meal Plan is the Pro planning mode.

Preferences can help shape the generated plan

The current Pro Nutrition Preferences feature supports information such as:

  • dietary restrictions;
  • allergies;
  • food preferences.

The Meal Plan source also documents:

  • favourite ingredients;
  • disliked foods.

These inputs can help Habits generate suggestions that better reflect the preferences you entered.

Preferences are information for the AI — not a safety guarantee

A saved preference does not make an AI-generated meal automatically:

  • allergen-free;
  • nutritionally complete;
  • medically appropriate;
  • suitable for a diagnosed health condition.

Review the generated meals yourself.

Habits can show a tracking gap before generating the plan

The current source documents a pre-generation gap analysis for:

  • Protein gap;
  • energy gap.

These should be understood as product comparisons based on the nutrition information/goals available in Habits.

They are not a diagnosis of:

  • Protein deficiency;
  • malnutrition;
  • nutrient deficiency;
  • a medical condition.

The Meal Plan can use Habits context, but that does not validate a target medically

Habits lets users configure nutrition tracking goals.

A goal stored in the app should not be interpreted as proof that the amount is medically right for you.

That means an AI Meal Plan should not be treated as independently prescribing:

  • calorie intake;
  • Protein intake;
  • carbohydrate intake;
  • fat intake;
  • treatment for under-nutrition.

If you need medical nutrition advice, use an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Do not use an AI Meal Plan as your only allergy safeguard

Habits can use an allergy preference as input to the generated plan.

AI can still make mistakes.

A generated suggestion may fail to account for:

  • hidden ingredients;
  • recipe variations;
  • manufacturing cross-contact;
  • restaurant preparation;
  • substitutions;
  • brand-specific ingredients.

If you have a food allergy, verify ingredients independently using appropriate product, recipe, restaurant or healthcare information.

New Zealand Food Safety specifically advises people with allergies to check labels and ingredient information, and notes that cross-contact can occur during food preparation.

A restriction you enter is a preference/context signal

The source says the Meal Plan can use dietary restrictions.

This guide does not claim Habits can safely prescribe or manage specialised medical diets for conditions such as:

  • kidney disease;
  • diabetes;
  • pregnancy;
  • eating disorders;
  • gastrointestinal disease.

If a dietary requirement is medically important, verify the plan with an appropriately qualified professional rather than relying on AI alone.

Planned meals and logged meals are different records

A meal suggestion in a 7-day plan is an idea for the future.

Your Food log records what you actually choose to enter into Habits.

This guide does not assume that:

a planned meal = a logged meal.

If the current product supports a specific “log this planned meal” action, document that only after running-build QA.

Review AI-generated meal suggestions before using them

AI-generated food suggestions can be incorrect or inappropriate.

Possible problems include:

  • ingredient mismatch;
  • preference mismatch;
  • unrealistic portion;
  • incorrect nutritional estimate;
  • unsuitable substitution;
  • repeated meals;
  • impractical suggestions.

Use the plan as a planning aid, not as nutrition truth.

AI Meal Plan sits inside Habits' optional AI system

The Meal Plan is an AI feature.

Habits has:

  • an AI master control;
  • separate AI data-category controls;
  • an AI access history.

Core Food logging remains available without the AI Meal Plan.

Manual Food tracking still works without optional AI

If optional AI is declined or disabled:

  • manual Food logging remains;
  • Saved Meals remain part of the core Food system.

AI Meal Plan requires optional AI processing.

AI Meal Plan questions

How long is the Habits AI Meal Plan?

The current product reference documents a 7-day Meal Plan.

Is the Meal Plan available in Free?

No.

The current plan matrix documents the AI Meal Plan as Pro.

What information can shape the plan?

The source documents:

  • dietary restrictions;
  • allergies;
  • favourite ingredients;
  • disliked foods;
  • nutrition gaps.

What is the Protein/energy gap?

It is a product tracking comparison used before generation.

This guide does not describe it as a diagnosed deficiency or a medical assessment.

Is the Meal Plan guaranteed to be safe for my food allergy?

No.

The feature can use an allergy preference as context, but AI can make mistakes.

A generated plan also cannot verify manufacturing or restaurant cross-contact.

Check labels/ingredients and appropriate food-provider information independently when allergy safety matters.

Does the Meal Plan prescribe how many calories or how much Protein I medically need?

No.

User-configured tracking goals and AI-generated suggestions should not be treated as medical nutrition prescriptions.

Does a planned meal automatically go into my Food log?

This guide does not make that claim.

The Food log represents entries you record; exact plan-to-log behavior should match the current production app.

What if I change an allergy or dietary preference?

Review or regenerate the plan.

Do not assume an older AI-generated plan automatically changes unless the current app explicitly confirms that behavior.

Do I have to use AI to track Food?

No.

Manual Food logging and Saved Meals are core Food features.

Is this medical nutrition advice?

No.

The AI Meal Plan is a planning feature, not medical nutrition therapy.

Use the Meal Plan for ideas and organisation — then review what it suggests.

The Habits AI Meal Plan can create a 7-day plan from preferences and available nutrition context.

Small print:
AI-generated meal suggestions can be incorrect. The Meal Plan is not medical nutrition therapy and is not a guaranteed allergy-safety system.
